Stephen Moose is the Alexander Professor of Maize Breeding and Genetics in the Department of Crop Sciences at the University of Illinois. His youth on a small dairy farm in Ohio sparked an interest in genetics, which he has pursued a career to improve corn and related crops for economically valuable traits, including fermentation and brewing. Dr. Moose teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on the topics of biotechnology and genome science, and how advances in these areas are being applied to crop improvement.
