George de Piro

George worked as a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry while brewing at home. After winning gold medals at the National Homebrew Competition and Masters Championship of Amateur Brewing as well as Best of Show at some smaller contests he realized he was a much better brewer than chemist and made the hobby his career. George has brewed professionally for 20 years, working at brewpubs and in a small production facility. He has won multiple awards at the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival and is also a Master Judge in the Beer Judge Certification Program. He co-founded Druthers Brewing Company in Saratoga Springs in 2012 and has worked to grow it into a three-location brewpub with modest regional distribution in the seven years since.
