As director of spirit research, my primary duty is to initiate many different forms of research aimed to further our understanding of barrel chemistry and spirit maturation (primarily Kentucky bourbon whiskey). This is accomplished through internal lab-based experiments or large format barrel experiments. Furthermore, I work with customers to develop new products (primarily American whiskeys) by designing new barrels or implementing customized maturation programs.
